2014 Call of Duty Championship Kicks Off Today
Ever imagine being so good at a game that a payout of $400,000 is possible? The 2014 Call of Duty Championship has kicked off today and has that payment for the best team.
The tourney features 32 of the best Call of Duty teams in the world playing for bragging rights and money. Mostly money. The tournament will be live streaming on MLG.tv, and on CallofDuty.com. The total amount of prize money given away during the championship will be $1 million.
As of right now, the tournament is only playing Call of Duty: Ghosts. Ghosts was developed by Infinity Ward, and came out to positively mixed reviews. The next Call of Duty game will be made for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 first and developed by a new maker, Sledgehammer Games.
The tourney starts out with a round-robin pool play of eight groups of four teams. The top two teams who advance from the opening rounds will go into a 16 team double-elimination bracket, where the team that takes first will take home the grand prize of $400,000. The remaining seven teams will take home a range of $200,000 for the second place team and $25,000 for the eighth place team.
The final match of the tournament will be on Sunday, March 30 with livestreams on the websites mentioned above and on Xbox Live Dashboards.
