Uncharted 4 Game Director Leaves Naughty Dog

Following Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig’s departure from Naughty Dog, Uncharted 3 and 4 game director Justin Richmond has left the studio as well and is joining League of Legends developer Riot Games.

“I have in fact made the decision to leave Naughty Dog,” Richmond told IGN. “I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can’t wait to be a part of.”

Richmond oversaw Uncharted 2: Among Thieve’s multiplayer until moving on up as game director for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. He has worked at Naughty Dog since 2008.

Richmond is the latest director to leave Sony Worldwide Studios as God of War 3 creative director Stig Asmussen has left Sony Santa Monica recently as well. Santa Monica was hit with layoffs, alongside three other Sony first-party studios, and isn’t clear whether or not Asmussen made his decision to leave following the recent layoffs. He was reportedly working on an unannounced new IP for the PS4 until it was canceled alongside the layoffs.
