Stardock Releases First Gameplay Video of Galactic Civilizations III
Stardock has released the first gameplay video showing off footage from the Alpha stage of Galactic Civilizations III. The video, presented by former Game Informer PC Editor and current Stardock PR guy and intergalactic conqueror Adam Biessener, is our first glimpse into the current state of the highly anticipated 4x turn-based strategy sequel releasing via Steam’s Early Access program on March 27, 2014.
Stardock’s flagship series is one of the most highly regarded strategy franchises, and Biessener describes this follow-up as “The game we always wanted to make.” The gameplay certainly seems to follow the rule of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” and much of what makes the Civ-in-Space series so cherished is how well all the systems work together.
As it is still in Alpha many of the standard aspects and mechanics that fans of the series and genre have come to expect won’t be quite ready for the Early Access launch, including diplomacy, custom ship builder and colony management.
Excited fans and curious newcomers should check out the Early Access Alpha when it releases on Steam on March 27, and look for the final release later this year. Galactic Civilizations III was also one of our Twenty Most Anticipated PC Games of 2014, and its predecessors are currently on sale as Steam’s Daily Deal for 75% off.
