PlayStation 4 Prices Increasing In Canada
Sony Computer Entertainment Canada has reported to the Toronto Sun that the hot PlayStation 4 -along with the DualShock 4 and PlayStation Camera- will be increasing in price.
The PlayStation 4 in Canada will increase by $50; the console will rise from $399.99 to $449.99. The DualShock 4 and PlayStation Camera will also increase by $5, going from $59.99 to $64.99. The new prices will go into effect on Saturday, March 15.
In a statement to the Sun, Sony said that the price increase was not due to the Canadian dollar falling against the American dollar, but “to respond to changes in the market environment.” In 2007, prices were raised on the PlayStation 3 in Canada to respond to a weak Canadian dollar.
In Canada, sales of the Xbox One have been approaching the sales of the PlayStation 4. The biggest reason for the increase sales in Xbox One is the newly released Titanfall, and the Xbox One bundle that includes Titanfall.
Sony has stated that the PlayStation 4 is still being shipped to all stores across Canada, but just like what is happening here in the United States, the PlayStation 4 is still sold out. The console has sold over 6 million units earlier in the month of March, even with it being hard to find. The PlayStation 4 should be available in stores by April with shipments ready to put it back in stock.
