The Witcher 3 Delay Won’t Affect Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red announced yesterday that it has delayed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to February 2015. This has naturally led to many questioning what the future holds for Cyberpunk 2077, the studio’s other major role-playing game. However, CEO of the Polish studio Marcin Iwinski has told Gamespot that The Witcher 3’s delay won’t affect development on the sci-fi themed game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by a separate team within CD Projekt Red, so the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not really affected,” he stated. But, Iwinski did admit that since The Witcher 3 is such a large project, several Cyberpunk developers have moved over to The Witcher 3 team in order to help finish the product.

“In order to ship a huge RPG we do use help of certain team members between teams. It works this way between Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3,” he said. “We are working hard to deliver an outstanding RPG and rest assured, that all the learnings on The Witcher 3 are being applied to the Cyberpunk 2077 development.”

Iwinski explained that moving developers around to different projects is standard practice, so there isn’t any harm done.

CD Projekt Red has yet to reveal a release date for Cyberpunk 2077, but the game is confirmed for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
