Report: Ubisoft CEO Forced Watch_Dogs E3 Reveal

According to a recent report, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot forced the team at Ubisoft Montreal to reveal the upcoming Watch_Dogs at E3 2012 against their wishes.

Watch_Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin revealed that, although the team felt it was too early to show off their game, Guillemot demanded it.

“They forced us to go at E3 2012, We didn’t know what the hell those new consoles would be, so Watch Dogs really has worked on [seventh]-gen systems since the start. But we always pushed the ideas, the design, the core of Watch Dogs in such a way that we felt it would fit well with what we thought would be the future of games,” Morin said. “Yves was the one who wanted us to go at that E3, even though we felt it was a bit early, and in the end I think he was right.”

While being one of the more anticipated games of the new console generation, it has also been one of the most controversial. Amid reports of delays and visual downgrades, Ubiosft Montreal insists the game is on track.  If recent chatter about a closed beta are true, that could be the case. Watch_Dogs is currently slated for a May 27th release.
