Costume Quest 2 Announced

Double Fine’s Tim Schafer announced at Up at Noon on IGN that a sequel to Costume Quest is in the works. The game is planned to come out for PC and consoles this Halloween.

“I saw [a sequel] more as a demand,” Double Fine’s Tim Schafer told IGN. “I don’t know that I had much choice in the matter.” The game is in production now, and “got up and running really fast.”

Publisher Majesco has an indie label called Midnight City, and it will be publishing Double Fine’s sequel. Schafer describes that the studio’s first ever sequel will contain a battle system that has significantly improved over what’s present in the original game, it’s “deeper and juicier.” Midnight City also revealed that returning heroes Wren and Reynold will have a “new batch of costumes with which to transform into giant super powered fantasy Hallowarriors.”

Just why did Double Fine choose to develop another Costume Quest? Schafer explains saying, “It is that game, you can’t slip that schedule. It’s the kind of game you always want to revisit, there’s such a great core to it.”
