It’s “Back To The Drawing Board” For Driveclub

According to PlayStation Worldwide Studios executive Scott Rohde, in an interview with IGN, has stated that Sony has “gone back to the drawing board” in order to make PlayStation 4 racing game Driveclub the best it can be. Rhode explained that Sony would be doing fans a “disservice” if it were to ship Driveclub in its current state.

“What I will say is that it all comes back to that fundamental principle, and that’s that we want to build great games,” Rohde said. “And we really don’t want to release a game before it’s ready. And sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we’re on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realize that we’d be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready.”

“So, I think that at PlayStation, perhaps more than at other places, we’re willing to kinda eat that [cost] and go back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it,” he added. “And that’s what’s going on right now with that game.”

Rhode was pressed to offer any details as to when we should expect Driveclub to release, but he wouldn’t offer any. However, a PlayStation PR person said that more info about the game should be revealed soon.

Driveclub is being developed by Motorstorm creators Evolution Studios. It was originally supposed to be a PS4 launch title, until it was inevitably delayed.
