Persona 5 Confirmed For The West, To Release In 2015

Just a while back Atlus announced the fifth main entry in the mega popular Persona series, Persona 5. During the announcement the game was only confirmed for Japan and is a slated for a Winter 2014 release in that region. Finally, and as expected, the developer has confirmed the game for Western regions and will release at a slightly later date than its initial Japanese launch, sometime in 2015.

The last main entry in the series came in the form of Persona 4, which was released for the PS2 all the way back in 2008. The game was re-released, titled Persona 4: Golden this time, for the Playstation Vita in 2012 and has garnered both critical praise and healthy commercial sales. It’s considered to be one of Playstation Vita’s best games out right now. Persona 4 also received a fighting game spin-off, Persona 4 Arena, which launched back in 2012 for PS3 and Xbox 360. Atlus revealed that its sequel, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, will release in Western regions starting this Fall. Arc Systems Works will develop the sequel.

Persona 5 will launch exclusively on Playstation 3. So far, it doesn’t look as though the game will make its way towards Sony’s next-gen system, the Playstation 4. But PS4 users might experience the game on their new system by way of video game streaming service Playstation Now, if the service executes its promises that is.
