Gran Turismo 5 Online Support, DLC, and GT TV Shutting Down In May
Polyphony Digital, developers of the popular Gran Turismo game franchise, announced last December that online services for Gran Turismo 5 would be terminated on May 30, 2014. More details have now been released as to how players can retain their DLC packs after the servers go down, and when the servers will be turned off.
The all DLC packs except for the Paint Pack, the Racing Gear Pack, the Racing Car Pack, and the Course Pack will be unaffected by the server shutdown, but in order to reinstall them, the user has to access transaction history, instead of finding the pack in the store.
The other four packs have special instructions, notably that the Paint Pack and Racing Gear Pack will not be downloadable after the servers shut down. Full instructions for all of the packs can be found on Gran Turismo’s website.
Gran Turismo TV will be going offline on March 14, 2014. All programs downloaded before this date can be viewed through March 14, 2015.
(Ed. It seems that Polyphony is pushing players to buy GT6, so it definitely may be time to look into it if you’re a fan of the Gran Turismo franchise.)
