Thief Will Run On PlayStation 4 At 1080p, On Xbox One At 900p

Square Enix has told Eurogamer that their new game Thief will run at 1080p on the PlayStation 4 and 900p on the Xbox One. Both consoles will run the game at a constant 30 frames per second, so the difference will be barely noticeable on any but the largest screens.

Nicolas Cantin, game director for Thief, insists that the game is just as good on the Xbox One as the PlayStation 4. “You really need good eyes to see the difference,” said Cantin.

The major difference can be seen in the current-gen to next-gen consoles. The graphics were understated on the current-gen versions, with neutered special effects and less detail. “We kept the same gameplay experience with the current-gen and the next-gen versions,” Cantin ensured.

This comes after several blows to Xbox One’s graphical capability, notably on Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and most recently on Titanfall. Many games for the Xbox One are running at 720p, and a few have been released in 900p, but many PS4 titles have been released in full HD.

Hmff, don’t know if a “blow” can be what the X-Box One is suffering from. 900p ain’t all that bad in my book, as long as 60 FPS is kept. I’d stick to fighting the console war over bigger and better things.
