MGSV: Ground Zeroes Runs In 1080p Only On PS4
Konami has confirmed that the PS4 verison of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain prequel, Ground Zeroes, will run natively in 1080p. The Xbox One version will only run in 720p.
A current-/next-gen comparison article published by Konami reveals the news. The article aims to highlight the differences between all the consoles the title is coming out for. It also contains a comparison table.
As you can see, despite the disparity between resolutions both next-gen consoles run in full 60FPS.
Creative Director Hideo Kojima has been vocal in his preference for Sony’s PS4 over the Xbox One. He deemed it to be a lot more powerful, and it looks like that’s being showcased.
Both Kojima and Konami also took to the defense of Ground Zeroes” length over the past couple of weeks. It was revealed that the prequel could be completed in less than 3 hours, but Kojima Productions designer Jordan Amaro explained that quantity does not always equal quality.
“Are Journey and Dear Esther long? [Voltaire’s 18th-century writing Candide] is like a hundred pages at most,” Amaro said. “Yet they are masterpieces of video game and literature. This smearing will not stain and affect what we’re aiming to achieve with MGS, the game industry in Japan, or video games as a whole.”
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will release on March 18th in North America and March 20th in Europe.
