The Evil Within Release Date Announced

The upcoming survival horror game, The Evil Within, will be available on August 26 in North America and August 29 in Europe. It’ll launch on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

The game marks a return for Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, to a genre he helped create all those years ago. Mikami slightly strayed from horror, with games such as Vanquish and Shadows of the Damned. The Evil Within looks like a sharp return for the man. It’s a third-person survival in which you resume the role of a detective investigating an asylum. Everything from the imagery to the several trailers released thus far, has all been exceptionally disturbing.

Developer Tango Gameworks has not detailed as to how the current-gen and last-gen console versions of the game will differ from each other. But we can expect a much more visually appealing experience on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will be published by Bethesda Softworks.

Here’s the box art for the game. An interesting vine video was also released.

In keeping the discussion going about Resident Evil, the latest development on the series’ supposedly deaf composer, Mamoru Samuragochi, shocked Capcom. Be sure to check out what the company’s response was on the matter.
