Watch Dogs On Wii U Delayed

Ubisoft has revealed today, during a conference call discussing its earnings for the third fiscal quarter, that Watch Dogs on Wii U will be delayed.

The company announced that, following last-year’s delay, the title is still planed for release during its first quarter of the 2014-2015 fiscal year, which runs form April 1, 2014 through June 30. Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC are all included in this release date, with Wii U being the notable absence. According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, the Wii U version will release at “a later date.” No specific release date, or window, was provided.

Guillemot also briefly discussed the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the game, stating that “Watch Dogs on current-gen is really looking very good, and we’ve been able to put lots of the features that are in next-gen, so you can expect this game to be fantastic as well.”

An exact release for Watch Dogs on the rest of the platforms mentioned wasn’t detailed as well. But Guillemot did promise that more information regarding their much anticipated title would be revealed “very soon.”

I know that people can’t emphasize enough that “delayed” isn’t the same as “canceled,” but I have my sneaking suspicions that it’s about as close to being cancelled for Wii U as it can get at this point. Sad that they’re putting the U at a deliberate disadvantage, but I’ll be happy to get it on any system if things look up for Watch_Dogs. Can’t help wonder if this is gonna be another Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U, but I guess we’ll see. . . in any case, this additional “information” has to be an Assassin’s Creed tie-in. . . it must!
