Vita Slim Coming To North America, With Borderlands 2

Sony has announced today that the new redesigned PS Vita Slim will be heading to North America this Spring. Alongside the handheld the long awaited Vita version of Gearbox’s Borderlands 2 will also be available this Spring, with its own bundle to boot. It’ll be available starting on May 31st.

An exact North American release date wasn’t detailed, and the pricing for the Slim model wasn’t revealed as well, but we should expect it to be around $199.99. The Borderlands 2 bundle, for example, is priced at $199.99 and includes a digital copy of the game alongside six DLC packs and a 8GB memory card.

The Vita’s slim model was revealed last summer and has been available in Japan for a while now. European customers were able to purchase the product as well since February 7th. PS Vita Slim is 15 percent lighter and 20 percent thinner than the original Vita model, and comes with a gigabyte of internal storage space. However, it has replaced the original’s much lauded OLED screen in lieu of a 5 inch LCD screen.

Ever since PS4’s launch back in November, Vita sales have increased by as much as 163 percent. Hopefully the introduction of the Slim model in North America will continue the device’s steady positive sales.
