Pokemon Bank

Pokemon Bank Now Available in North America

After announcing Pokemon Bank and PokeTransporter for the Nintendo 3DS, two ways that communicate with each other to store all of your Pokemon in a server far away, Nintendo had to pull the services due to the massive strain they were causing on the Nintendo Network. Now, after being rolled out first in Asia, then in Europe, they are now available for download in North America.

While Pokemon Bank is a free download, and users have a 30-day free trial, a $4.99 annual fee will be needed to continue to use the service. However, while it is now available in North America, my efforts in downloading it have resulted in failure. This could be due to the number of people downloading it at the same time.

As such, it pays to be patient and wait a little longer to download the app. While Pokemon Bank stores a maximum of 3,000 Pokemon, PokeTransporter allows you to transport Pokemon from the two previous entries in the series, Pokemon Black/White and Pokemon Black 2/White 2.

Recently, Nintendo took down Pokemon X & Y servers to conduct extended maintenance, the reason probably being to prepare for the impending Pokemon Bank release. Nintendo has yet to make an official announcement on the matter, so as soon as we do, we will update this post.
