Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry Will Be Standalone, Will Cry for PS3, PS4, and PC
Ubisoft announced that it is planning to release the add-on downloadable content for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Freedom Cry, as a standalone title for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Freedom Cry put players in the boots of Adewale, a slave who became a pirate and, soon afterwards, an Assassin. If the name sounds familiar, he is second-in-command to Black Flag‘s protagonist, Edward Kenway. According to Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key, “We decided to release Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry as a stand-alone game for both fans and newcomers to the Assassin’s Creed universe.”
Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry will be released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on February 18 for $14.99. The PC version will arrive one week later, on February 25, for the same price. No mention was made of whether we would see the standalone title making its way to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, though we can be sure that the title will not make its way to the Wii U.
It will not require the purchase of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, since Freedom Cry will be released as a standalone title. You can see the announcement trailer below.
