PS Vita Sales Increase by 163% In The UK

PS Vita sales have increased in the UK by 163% following the PS4 launch. The holiday season probably played an integral role in the sales increase, but Sony is also partly crediting the launch of its new console.

Fergal Gara, the MD of Sony UK & Ireland, told IGN, “There was a 163% uplift in PS Vita sales post PS4 launch. A significant number of PS Vita purchasers in the UK indicated that Remote Play was their reason for purchase, and we are subsequently seeing lots of these new PS Vita users connecting to PS4 with this feature.”

The PS Vita Slim was announced for the UK yesterday, and is set to launch on February 7. It’ll cost around £180 and will include built in Wi-Fi and an 1GB internal storage. It’s 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the current model, and it’ll replace the current OLED screen in lieu of an 5 inch LCD screen.

In other news, PS Plus subscriptions were also on the rise after the launch of the PS4 and were more than tripled.

Well, at least Sony’s major plans for the Vita aren’t totally bust.  I love mine, but if it gained some more traction it could be truly great.
