Kickstarter Darling Shovel Knight Gets Trailer, Release Date

For all of you who backed Yacht Club Games Shovel Knight on Kickstarter, or for those of you who are just interested in the retro Mega Man-inspired game, the wait is nearing its end.  Along with a new trailer, Yacht Club Games has given us a release date:  March 31st, for PC, 3DS and Wii U.

Heavily inspired by NES titles like Castlevania and Mega Man, Shovel Knight places gamers in the shoes of the titular knight as he platforms and shovels his way through various stages.  From what we have seen of the game, it should provide a blast of nostalgic fun for those who were around for the heyday of the NES.  The screen scrolls just like an old Mega Man game, and each level holds numerous hard-to-reach secrets and items.  Even the music hits that sweet spot of awesome and catchy that so many games back then had, which is no surprise considering famed Mega Man composer Manami Matsune is submitting a couple of tracks to the game.

Check out the trailer below and tell me you don’t want in on that action.  March 31st can’t come quick enough.
