Mass Effect Concept Art Found in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Early this morning, a member of BioWare’s forums posted that he had spotted something familiar in an episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an edited render of concept art found on a Mass Effect 3 limited edition lithograph titled Earth Alliance.
The image, shown in the background of a scene features a unique looking building, with a round center area and two halls or wings coming off either side, with dense rows of windows and two, what appear to be, vents out the top. This is strikingly similar to the lithograph image of the same exact shape on the bottom and the wings. The only real difference appears to be the letters edited out and the top of the structure was removed and the piece removed was edited with the same vent from the right side. As seen below, the top image is that of the lithograph, and the bottom is a screen grab from the show by the poster who broke the story.
While the implications of this legally are unknown, more may come of this in the future. If ABC or Marvel are responsible for using the content without consent, this could be a case of high profile copyright infringement against EA and Mass Effect developer BioWare.
(ed: It seems likely that I high profile studio like Marvel or ABC would think of the implications of something like this, so I find it plausible that this was licensed for use)
