Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Gets Trailer, Release Date

It’s official: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, the prequel game to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will be receiving exclusive content on both Sony and Xbox missions, and they are both pretty fitting.  While PlayStation users will get a unique flashback mission celebrating PlayStation’s history with the series, Xbox users can look forward to exploring the game with Cyborg Ninja Raiden.  That’s a fair trade-off, right?

So what exactly is Ground Zeroes?  Series creator Hideo Kojima had this to say about it at Xbox News:

“Ground Zeroes” is the gateway that leads into “The Phantom Pain” and serves as the prologue to the core “Metal Gear Solid V” experience.  If I were to draw an analogy to Hollywood movies, it’s similar to those first 15 minutes of a film that grabs the viewer’s interest and pulls them in before the opening title appears.  In game terms, it’s a sort of tutorial that will help players get accustomed to many of the changes that we’re introducing to the system,” Kojima said.

You can also check out the trailer below to get a better idea of what you’ll be getting into.  I’m a little wary that they are comparing this to a simple introductory sequence, but Kojima has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt.  As far as when you can get your hands  on it, we know that too.  You can expect to see Ground Zeroes on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on March 18th, 2014.
