PS4 Leads in Nielsen Survey, Wii U Last

A new Nielsen survey shows a majority of Holiday shoppers favoring the PlayStation 4 as their next-gen console as choice, while the Wii U is dead last.

According to the Nielsen survey, 30 percent of active gamers in the United States are planning to purchase a PS4, while 22 percent of gamers are planning to buy Microsoft’s Xbox One. However, for the Wii U, only 10 percent are interested in Nintendo’s year-old console. Given months of struggling sales and the console’s sudden price drop from $350 to $299, this isn’t encouraging news for the Wii U.  The good news for Nintendo is that Super Mario 3D World was the most desired Wii U game, while Call of Duty: Ghosts took the top spot for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Super Mario 3D World also scored top spot in the “Top 5 Exclusive Titles By 8th Generation Console,” with Wii Fit U coming in second, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in third. Despite only a teaser trailer  being released, Uncharted 4 was the most anticipated PS4 game, Killzone” Shadow Fall and inFamous: Second Son following. The same goes for the newly announced Halo game for the Xbox One, with Dead Rising 3 at second place, and Sunset Overdrive in third.
