Microsoft Offers Free Games to Owners of Defective Xbox One Consoles

We’ve learned over the years that launches of new hardware rarely go without any hiccups, and the Xbox One’s is no exception. While it affected only a small number of the adopters, Microsoft has confirmed that there were a few Xbox One consoles sold through that contained faulty disc drives that prevented players from being able to use their disc copies of games.

In order to make up for this, Microsoft has promised the owners replacement consoles, providing one free digital download code for one of the system’s launch titles to tide players over until their new system arrives.

The games are limited to first party exclusive titles, and include Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Zoo Tycoon. Being that it’s the disc drive that is faulty, those who download these titles should be able to play them right off the hard drive without any problems.

Did you pick up an Xbox One at launch and experience disc drive issues? Tell us about your experience in the comments below!
