Is a Next Gen Tomb Raider Port in the Works?

It was only two days ago that a listing for Amazon Italy hinted at a January release of Tomb Raider on next gen consoles, starting the rumor mill that Crystal Dynamic’s reboot could possibly be making its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Supposedly called Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, this port of the game on next gen would include the core experience along with all of the released multiplayer DLC and an art book.

Today, Square Enix decided to give us a small tease about the reality of the port, spouting all sorts of we-don’t-comment-on-rumors-or-speculation mumbo jumbo with the following statement:

“We appreciate all of the enthusiasm, however we don’t have any details to share just yet. That said, we highly recommend you keep an eye on any major gaming events happening in early December.”

Yes, vague comments are disappointing, but it’s encouraging to hear that Lara Croft will potentially be making her way to next gen consoles, hopefully with her all-new TressFX in full form. Of course, we won’t know for sure what’s going on for our intrepid archaeologist until December. Until then, check out our review and spoilercast of the game.
