Things Get Sentimental in the New X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer
A new trailer for the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past surfaced on the internet today, bringing with it a compilation of dramatic music, people yelling, and Wolverine yet again screaming in pain. Check it out below:
In Days of Future Past, the X-Men send Wolverine back in time to work with their younger selves to keep a catastrophic event from happening that would land all mutants in the present day in internment camps. Hopefully it doesn’t have all the complicated plot issues that so often arise with a time-travel story, but we won’t know for sure until the movie is released.
The film boasts an impressive lineup of major actors, including Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James MacAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, and Peter Dinklage.
Bryan Singer is returning to direct the next entry in the franchise he started back in 2000, and promises that “although there is a great deal of humor, the overall tone is a bit darker than previous films, particularly because of the stakes.”
Personally, I’m a bigger fan of the Singer-directed X-Men films than the others, although I will admit to enjoying The Wolverine despite its flaws. Whether or not this really is the X-Men film everyone’s been waiting for remains to be seen, but Singer’s return might bring with it just the edge the franchise needs to make great movies again.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to release in May of 2014.
