Check Out a Demo Video of the Xbox One Dashboard and Kinect Commands

“Xbox, write news story.”

…okay, so that didn’t work. We’ll do this manually, then.

A demo video was released today that showed off the dashboard of the Xbox One and how the Kinect voice controls will be available to users upon release. During the demo, we see the user pull up a movie, pause it, start up a game, share footage, and answer a Skype call in a not-at-all rehearsed conversation.

But in all seriousness, it is a pretty interesting video that hopefully shows off the use of the Kinect as it will actually work. Being that I’m incredibly lazy once I sit down to start up the Xbox, the fact that I can control the machine with the sound of my voice is a pretty enticing one indeed. Now, if only it could read my thoughts…

The dashboard also looks infinitely more manageable than the current iteration on the 360, and it’s not hard to see the parallels between the Xbox One’s dashboard and the design of Windows 8.

Of course, we won’t know how well the dashboard and voice controls really work until the system’s release on November 22nd. Until then, check out the demo below.
