Rockstar is Looking into Early Sales of Grand Theft Auto V

Much to the dismay of Rockstar Games and brick and mortar retailers worldwide, many gamers were pleasantly surprised to find copies of Grand Theft Auto V delivered to their doorsteps mere days before the game’s actual release date.

According to GamesIndustry International, Rockstar is “in the process of investigating early ‘sales’ to determine how and why that is occurring.”

This isn’t the only case of copies of Grand Theft Auto V being sold early to consumers, as videos in other countries have been released of kids getting early copies of the open-world game.

Breaking release dates can be a bad phenomenon, simply because it frustrates retailers and runs the risk of other stores putting their copies on the shelves a few days early.

Grand Theft Auto V will be released (or is supposed to be, anyway) tomorrow, Tuesday September 17.
