‘Fifa’, ‘NFL’, ‘Battlefield’ Before Next-gen

EA’s Next-gen Titles to Release before Next-gen Consoles

With the long-awaited next-gen consoles around the corner, bigwig publisher EA has announced that three of its next-gen titles will be released first on current-gen consoles and before the next-gen consoles are launched. The titles in question are coined as being “the pinnacle of this console generation“: Fifa 14, NFL 25, and Battlefield 4.

In a blog post by Peter Moore, the EA exec has confirmed that the next-gen version releases for Fifa 14, NFL 25 and Battlefield 4 will be available on November 19 in the US/November 21 in the EU for the Xbox One and November 12/November 29 for PS4.

The Xbox One will be launching in selected countries (including the US and Europe) on November 22, and the PS4 will be launching in the US on November 15/EU on November 29. This means the US will be getting EA’s next-gen titles on the Xbox One three days before its launch, and the EU will get them just one day before. This trend will also somewhat carry over to Sony’s platform, as the US will also get the titles three days before the PS4 is launched, but the EU will get them on the PS4’s launch day.

EA has encouraged buying the current-gen versions of the next-gen titles to better get a feel for them before purchasing their respective next-gen versions. Moore titled the blog post rather aptly in relation to this encouragement: “Playing the Best of this Generation – and Getting a Head Start on the Next”. Moore has outline two ways how gamers can enjoy playing on current-gen consoles in preparation for the next-gen consoles:

  • Playing early on the Xbox 360 or PS3 means you will be able to learn maps, unlock items, and build stats in Battlefield 4; or create your Ultimate Teams and more in FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25.  You can then seamlessly carry over a lot of cool content from the current gen game to a new Xbox One or PS4 version to get a jump on the competition.
  • Offers from many of our retail partners will help you buy Battlefield 4, FIFA 14 or Madden NFL 25 on the Xbox 360 or PS3, and then upgrade to an Xbox One or PS4 version for as little as $10.

NFL 25 was released at the end of August, Fifa 14 will release in the US on September 24/worldwide on September 27 for current-gen consoles, and  Battlefield 4 will have an Open Beta on October 1 and will release in US on October 29/EU on November 1 for current-gen consoles.
