Pokémon Ampharos, Absol and Mawile Will Be Able To Mega Evolve

Last week the creators for Pokémon X and Y announced the new Mega Evolution Capability, which is a unique ability that allows certain Pokémon to evolve temporarily with the help of a Mega Stone (used in battle only) into an even stronger version of itself, sort of like how a Digimon digivolves. The Pokémon turns into an upgraded version of itself with new potentials, capabilities and a new physical appearance, however this unique ability can only be used in battle. Don’t let the evolve part confuse you, it won’t turn into a new Pokémon with a new name such as how Charmander turns into Charmeleon; it’s an upgrade.

Mewtwo, Blaziken and Lucario  were the first three Pokémon to be announced of being capable of using Mega Stones to achieve a successful Mega-Evolve. This week Ampharos, Absol and Mawile have been confirmed to also be able to use the Mega Stones.

Ampharos  Mega Evolves into Mega Ampharos and becomes an Electric/Dragon-type Pokémon with a new physical appearance, new stats and a new ability called Mold Breaker.

Absol Mega Evolves into Mega Absol but remains the same Pokémon type, however it gains a new appearance, new stats and a new ability called Magic Bounce

Mawile Mega Evolves into Mega Mawile and gains an additional maw giving it two mouths to combat with. Like most of the Mega Evolutions, Mawile receives a new appearance and a new ability called Huge Power, however Mawile does not get an additional Pokémon type added on to her current Pokémon type.

Trainers will need to find the Mega Stones in order to tap into their amazing potential, which will be scattered and hidden throughout the Kalos region.

Pokémon X and Y will be released on October, 12th, 2013.

Well, it seems I was right to suggest they megavolve (mega-evolve?) Absol. Though I imagined, he would look a little bit, well…cooler. Not an emo, furry Dumbo.
