Evo 2013: New Street Fighter IV Announced

Capcom has announced a brand new iteration of their fantastic fighting game, Street Fighter IV, at their Evo 2013 panel.

While full details remain scarce until EVO’s Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition finals, some valuable information has been revealed about the new Street Fighter update. For starters, the currently unnamed Street Fighter IV update will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in early 2014. Unlike past Street Fighter follow-ups like Super Street Fighter IV or the Arcade Edition, players will not have to re-buy the same game just to experience the latest changes. Instead, players who own any version of Street Fighter IV can upgrade for $14.99, while the retail version will be available for $39.99.

Regarding its content, the Street Fighter IV upgrade will feature six new stages, five new characters, and includes all previously released costume packs. All this, while better balancing the existing character roster for even gameplay. The five new characters consist of Poison, Hugo, Rolento, Elena, and a secret character “Never been in a Street Fighter game before.” The four previously named characters were seen in Street Fighter X Tekken and are likely being added to the new Street Fighter IV over the crossover title’s poor reception.

A trailer featuring the official name of the Street Fighter IV update and possibly the identity of the mysterious new character will appear today on Evo 2013’s last day.
