Leviathyn Minute June 21st 2013 – GoG Is Having A Sale
Good evening everyone, I’m your host Stephen Basile, today is Friday, June 21st 2013 and here is your leviathyn minute.
It has been a full 24 hours since the news broke that Microsoft was doing a 180 with the Xbox One, removing the DRM, region locks, and used games service. Recently an engineer from the firm has spoken out about the DRM feature and while defending it, actually makes said feature sound worse.
The selling point from Xbox One fans was the family feature, this feature would allow family members to share games with one another. Now that the DRM feature is being removed, this feature no longer exsists. But here’s the kicker, the family feature wasn’t really a sharing feature to begin with, the service would only let a family member play the game for about an hour. Sounds more like a demo right, that’s because it is. After the time expire they were prompted to buy the game.
The new update for the PS3 is back on track and the update, firmware version 4.45, will be out on thursday, june 27th. Sony is said to be working on a fix for the bricked consoles.
Nintendo is unsure of the future for f-zero. When asked via IGN, Shigeru Miyamoto responded:
I certainly understand that people want a new F-Zero game. I think where I struggle is that I don’t really have a good idea for what’s new that we could bring to F-Zero that would really turn it into a great game again. Certainly I can see how people looking at Mario Kart 8 could see, through the anti-gravity, a connection to F-Zero. But I don’t know, at this point, what direction we could go in with a new F-Zero.
Amazon has the Xbox One listed for launching on November 27th. No confirmation yet from Microsoft, yet we do know the console will be launching in November.
Square Enix had a shake up today, some of the company’s staff have moved to new positions and projects. Square is working on Deus Ex: The Fall for mobile and tablets and Eidos-Montreal is working on Theif and two other unannounced projects.
GameStop has now been given unlimited order calls for the PS4 after selling out on most pre-orders. GameStop has been contacted by Sony to put out a new unlimited pre-order, before some of the retail stores only carried 24 on reserve.
