David Hayter Might Be Reprising Role As Snake In Metal Gear

For the most part the internet has agreed that David Hayter will not be returning to the Metal Gear series for Metal Gear Solid 5.  And why shouldn’t it?  Last month Hayter announced that he wasn’t even asked to return for the next game. It did seem strange as even though Kojima announced that Metal Gear Solid 5 was a fresh start, the original Snake Japanese voice actor was confirmed, so why not Hayter.

But now through Konami’s usually cryptic teaser and with a supporting tweet from David Hayter himself it look like the man that we all know and love as Snake will be reprising his iconic role.

Konami then released this trailer fort its pre-E3 2013 that asked the question “Who will be the voice of Snake?”

It wouldn’t be unreasonable to believe that this means Konami would be introducing the Western world to the new Metal Gear Solid 5, Big Boss/Snake voice actor.  And that’s fine because after the initial uproar most fans seemed to calm down of the issue.  And then David Hayter sent out this tweet:

Let the speculation commence.  Either David Hayter is going to return to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and this whole thing was nothing more than a big publicity stunt.  Or someone is playing a not so funny joke on the fans.  Either way, with E3 coming upon us very quickly Konami and maybe even Kojima himself will have to clear up this issue.  Konami’s pre-E3 2013 show will be on June 6th at 10am Pacific.
