EA Has Games in Development for the Wii U After All
In a complete 180 from news that broke last week, EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen announced yesterday that Electronic Arts is making games for the Nintendo Wii U platform after all.
This comes on the heels of the company saying that they had no games in production for the Wii U due to issues with the Frostbite engine running on the system. It’s also likely that the lackluster sales and reception of the Wii U have made EA nervous about investing development costs into making games for the console as well.
At the Stifel Nicolaus 2013 Internet, Media, and Communications Conference, Jorgensen said the following: “We are building titles for the Nintendo console, but not anywhere near as many as we are for PS or Xbox.”
While we have no idea what these specific “titles” may be, we do know that both FIFA and Madden will not be ported to the Wii U this fall. Jorgensen points to disappointing sales figures for FIFA 13 on the Wii U as one of the main reasons for this.
