Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine English Cast Announced

As a Lupin III fan who occasionally cosplays the gentleman thief and a supporter of English dubbed anime and licensed anime distribution  I have been looking forward to the FUNimation dub of Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. With the series scheduled to hit shelves July 30, it’s about bloody time that FUNimation announced their English cast.

Playing the titular Fujiko Mine with an emphasis on the first syllable is Michelle Ruff, who played the same femme fatale during the Geneon dub of Lupin III. Sonny Straight reprises his role as Lupin III for FUNimation releases. Mike McFarland, whose previous roles include Master Roshi from Dragonball and Havoc in Fullmetal Alchemist, plays the stoic swordsman Goemon. Richard Epcar, who previously played sharpshooter Jigen in the Geneon releases of Lupin III now plays Inspector Zenigata while Christopher R. Sabat (Zoro in One Piece) plays Jigen. It’s great to hear a mix of old, new, and recast voice actors reprise their Lupin III roles. Hopefully they won’t litter too many pop culture references like the Geneon dub.

Given Lupin III’s long history as a manga and anime, The Woman Called Fujiko Mine returns to the old school style and character development. At the very least, it gives me an excuse to dust off my old green jacket for the next anime convention.
