Raise Money for Charity While Playing Borderlands 2 With Headshots from the Heart

At some point in your life, it’s likely you’ve been told that playing video games accomplishes little to nothing other than allowing you to indulge in your own power fantasies. Well, this weekend you have the chance to prove your haters wrong. At least, you will if the fine folks at Headshots from the Heart have anything to say about it.

Headshots from the Heart is an online gaming marathon that raises money for Child’s Play, a charity that donates toys and video games to children’s hospitals around the globe. The Headshots crew will be playing Borderlands 2 for 24 hours straight, working to earn money for every headshot they score in the game.

While combating fatigue and taking in caffeine through intravenous delivery (not really), the team will also be broadcasting interviews, auctions, challenges, and performances alongside regular gameplay shown on their Twitch channel.

The Ontario-based team is also setting up a LAN party to accommodate more gamers interested in taking part of the action on Pandora for the greater good of children everywhere. If you’re not able to make it to Canada in time for the broadcast, however, participants are encouraged to take part by donating or bidding on any one of the unique items that will be featured in the auction during the event’s live stream.

We supported the cause last year and found the team to be a great bunch of people who were really focused on doing the best they could to raise money for the cause. This year, you can catch the stream on Saturday, May 18th on their channel starting at 12:30 pm EDT. For more information on the broadcast, joining in, pledging money, or offering other ways to get involved with the fundraiser, check out their website here, and follow them on Twitter for additional information and updates throughout the stream on Saturday.
