Crowdfunding for River City Ransom Sequel Planned for Summer
Combat Studios and partnering with Million for a sequel to River City Ransom on the PC.
Unrelated to the shelved River City Ransom sequel that was originally scheduled for the WiiWare in 2011, the new River City Ransom game by Million, who developed the Game Boy Advance remake called River City Ransom EX, will work with Combat Studios on the new installment in the series. Combat Studios had this to say about their partnership with Million on their blog:
We have development on an official, worldwide follow-up to River City Ransom. With strong followings in North America and Japan, we will work closely with Million (River City Ransom EX) to ensure it is the best game it can be for fans on both continents.
We are certainly not the only ones with an abiding love for River City Ransom, and we’ve assembled an amazing team of some of the most ardent fans of the game, each bringing their unique talents and imagination to what we hope will be the follow-up game you’ve always wanted to play.
Crowdfunding for the sequel will begin in the summer, while the placeholder website promises more information regarding the game through its mailing list. If all goes well, the sequel should arrive for August in 2014. Only the PC is being considered at the moment, but the River City Ransom sequel could land on other digital platforms if successful.
