Has a Superboy Movie Become a Possibility?

After a U.S. District court ruling in the favor of Warner Bros. and it’s subsidiary DC Comics, it appears that the film juggernaut now has the full capability of making a potential Superboy movie a reality.

This comes after a judge of the court settled the dispute between Warner Brothers and Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel, in which Siegel relinquished full rights to both Superman and Superboy to the studio. You can read all about the court proceedings over at Deadline.

With this out of the way, it’s now possible for the studio to do what they wish with the man of steel, including a possible film adaptation of Superboy. It should be noted that this is merely speculation, as no plans for a Superboy movie have been formally announced. But with the upcoming Zack Snyder film Man of Steel set to release this summer, the film’s potential success could more than warrant a future take on Superboy. After all, with the recent releases of The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and the upcoming Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel, it’s no secret that Hollywood is in a sort of superhero craze right now, making the possibility of a Superboy movie all the more likely.

Zack Snyder’s upcoming take on the Superman story in Man of Steel has sparked curiosity and is looking like an interesting take on the classic superhero as a whole. Starring Russel Crowe, Henry Cavill, and Amy Adams, the film has a much darker tone to it than Superman movies in the past (which is possibly attributed to Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan’s involvement). According to an IMDb listing for the film, Man of Steel’s plot reads as the following: “A young journalist is forced to confront his secret extraterrestrial heritage when Earth is invaded by members of his race.”
