Bethesda Softworks Teases New Game Over Twitter

Update 2: Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is reportedly leading development of the yet unannounced game, to be published by Bethesda.

Update 1: Bethesda has posted yet another clip to Vine, this time looking up from the floor at a window with heads peaking out of the shadows. This video also came with a concrete promise of a mystery reveal tomorrow courtesy of IGN. Stay tuned for more information in the coming days.

Original Story

Bethesda didn’t take long to uphold the promise they made last week to make “considerably more noise” in 2013. Yesterday afternoon Bethesda’s Twitter released a short 4 second teaser posted to Vine. This was immediately met with giddy internet folks hoping for Fallout 4. The short-lived rumors were quickly squashed by Bethesda’s vice president of marketing Peter Hines. This resulted in much speculation: 1) the new game might not be a new franchise, but rather a reboot of an older on and 2)  it is more likely a project from Bethesda Softworks the publisher than Bethesda Studios the developer.

These two point of speculation revolve largely around rumors around the web and some LinkedIn profiles that hinted at a new Wolfenstein game. See for yourself below. The first video features spiraling barbed wire, followed by a spinning 33 1/3 LP by The Moonlight Trio and George Shackley. Lastly is flashes images of Bach and Air on the G String. The next vine features sunflowers being set on fire, like a scene out of the river in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
