Pokemon X & Y: A Possible New Mewtwo Form
A brand new Pokemon to be featured in the upcoming Pokemon X & Y games due for release this October was announced by Nintendo today. As it turns out, the Pokemon revealed was the Mewtwo-lookalike featured on a leaked alternate poster featured for the upcoming Pokemon movie Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens.
The new Pokemon was revealed on this week’s episode of the Japanese show Pokemon Smash, which has been known to reveal new Pokemon from time to time over the past few years. The new Pokemon can be seen in this reveal trailer using moves such as Shadow Ball and Blizzard in battle.
Immediately, the most notable thing about this new Pokemon is its striking resemblance to Mewtwo, a favorite of everyone who played the original Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Green games. Unfortunately, this Pokemon was not given an official name. It has been speculated, however, that this new Pokemon may end up being an alternate form (similar to how Pokemon like Shaymin and Rotom change forms) of Mewtwo. On the other hand, it may very well end up being a completely different Pokemon that just happens to look a whole lot like Mewtwo (is this the dreaded Mewthree?).
Truth be told, if this new Pokemon reveal is anything like the most recent Sylveon reveal, there will likely be a massive influx of Pokemon rumors floating around within the next few weeks, especially on 4chan, where the infamous Mr. XY made a recent hoax regarding the new Pokemon to be included in the new games. Similarly, as the release date of Pokemon X & Y grows ever closer, it would not be naive to assume that more new Pokemon will be revealed before the games release.
