PC Version of Skyrim Increasing Level Cap, Adding Legendary Difficulty

For those that want to play Skyrim until the universe stops expanding, you’re in luck.  Bethesda released today a beta version of the 1.9 title update for PC version of Skyrim, which adds a new Legendary difficulty setting and a host of bug fixes.  The console versions will also be receiving this update later this month.

In addition to the new Legendary difficulty, Legendary skills will also be available.  Once you’ve upgraded a skill to 100, you can choose to make these skills Legendary, which will drop them down back to 15.  This will allow you to level up them again, and thereby level up your character even more.

This roundabout way of increasing the level cap seems odd to me, but I’m sure a lot of people out there really didn’t need a compelling reason to go play more Skyrim.

To access the beta, players will have to right click on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in the Steam library and go to Properties.  From there, an option to select the beta will be available.  Bethesda has warned folks to back up your saved games just in case something crazy happens.

A list of all the bug fixes Bethesda is implementing in this patch is available on their official blog.
