500 GB White PS3 Coming out on January 27th for $300

A white PS3 is finally coming to North America!  The “Classic White PS3 Instant Game Collection Bundle” is hitting store shelves on January 27th, and it includes a slim white PS3, a white controller, and a free one year subscription to PlayStation Plus.  This PS Plus membership grants users free access to a plethora of games, including Sony’s Instant Game Collection, which is always changing library of 12 PS3 games.  It’s important to note that once the subscription period ends, you will not be able to access those games for free again.

The “Classic White PS3 Instant Game Collection Bundle” is an unnecessarily long and convoluted name for a bundle. But that’s just me.

It seems strange that Sony is prepping up a new PS3 bundle, as there have been some rumors speculating that both Sony and Microsoft are prepping special press conferences in late March to officially unveil their next generation platforms.  I mean, are there people who still want a PS3 that don’t have one yet?  I’m sure Sony did their market research, but it still seems like a strange move to me.
