Official Pacific Rim Trailer Finally Arrives!

If you haven’t already been anxiously awaiting any and all information relating to Guillermo del Toro’s next film, Pacific Rim, then it is time for you to join the rest of us. Pacific Rim is del Toro’s first film as a Director since Hellboy 2, which is hard to believe considering how many movies he is tied to. Guillermo del Toro has kept this film very very secret and it seems doing so has built the hype that is much deserved. If you haven’t heard the famous saying, in a nut shell this film is about “Big f*cking robots fighting big f*cking aliens”. To expand on this, the film is about a legion of aliens called Kaiju that have found their way to our planet due to a dimensional rift in the Pacific Ocean. In order to combat these aliens that simply want to destroy all humans and consume all of our resources, the humans have made massive robots called Jaegers which are simultaneously controlled by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. After struggling to fend off the aliens, it is up to a washed up pilot and an untested trainee to take a seemingly obsolete robot to fight the aliens and save mankind.

The film stars Charlie Hunnam (TV’s ‘Sons of Anarchy’), Idris Elba (‘Thor’), Rinko Kikuchi (‘The Brothers Bloom’), Charlie Day (‘Horrible Bosses’), and Ron Perlman (the ‘Hellboy’ films). The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke.

Now, if you have never known, del Toro is notorious for calling himself a big fat geek. If you have ever had any concern with the validity of this (which I dont know how you would) keep a sharp ear to the computer’s voice in the trailer below. I have to say, not only did I lose my mind from how amazing this movie looks, I equally had a nerdgasm over this little delicious nugget that del Toro provided for us. Please, watch the trailer below, watch it twice.

Tell me what you think! Did you catch the little gem?
