G4 to be Rebranded as Esquire Channel Next Year

After announcing the cancellation of Attack of the Show! and X-Play, G4 stated that it would go through a rebranding. According to THR, G4 will be rebranded as the Esquire channel.

According to THR, NBCUniversal has struck a deal with Hearst Corporation. For those not in the know (including myself), Hearst Corporation is the parent company of Esquire. As already announced by G4, this is an attempt to capture the chic market by including programming like cooking, travel, and fashion. Though gaming won’t be a focus anymore, it will still exist in some form.

Expect the rebranding to take place sometime in early 2013.
