The WarZ Team Blacklists Customers Asking For Refunds And Gets Blasted By Ex-Mod

Things are not looking good for Hammerpoint right now.

Just yesterday some news broke out from reddit about an ex-moderator on The WarZ forums who was scapegoated, let go, and then proceeded to go full auto against the team, company, and the game itself. A day after his rant a gamer who paid for The WarZ asked for a refund and got a threatening response back from a company representative. Needless to say, this is not a good week for the company and I doubt this is the end.

First, about the ex-mod. Forum moderator Devin’s forum account got hacked. The hacker proceeded to delete posts on the forum with much delight until access was revoked. After everything got cleaned up and sorted Devin was given his mod account back. The issue here is that the company never backed up their forum. Therefore the damage done was permanent. Apparently this didn’t settle well with some higher ups and Devin was again found without a mod account, this time for good.

Hackers seem to be a pretty consistent problem for The WarZ. There are tons of posts online on various websites talking about hacking issues and the cities in the game being a camping ground for either hacked players or people who paid tons of real money to become nigh invincible. The latter not hacking, of course, but an indictment of how The WarZ’s structure is based off of Pay 2 Win to a certain degree.

To get the whole story, here is the transcribed message from Devin that was originally posted on The WarZ forum:

EX-Forum Mod Devin here. Let me tell ya some stuff you can spout on for a new youtube video

My forum account was hacked, my fault, they deleted a lot of posts. I was de-modded and banned, got my computer secure, re-modded and unbanned and took care of business as usual. Except their company is full of dumb fucks and didn’t backup the forums at all. No backups whatsoever.

Sergay then took it upon himself to tell Kewk to demote me for my fuckup that could have been reversed if they were not so fucking stupid.

I then made a post on the forums about how I knew this was coming; and I was sorry and would not long be supporting a company that did not support their unpaid volunteer Moderators that spent over 100+ hours answering THEIR CUSTOMERS questions and concerns as well as relaying them the ideas the community had for their bullshit game.

I was then banned for making a “Rage quit” thread permanent and here is the even funnier part my in-game account banned under the excuse I requested a refund

So, since I didn’t sign any sort of NDA for those fuckfaces here are some interesting facts.

WarZ is a direct port over from War Inc. They literally took the game and added NPCs, made a large map, and changed around camera angles and gun settings while adding more functionality and switching over some things. ALL ART however was actually done in-house by their amazing ART team. (Those were the best guys to know, they were in touch more with the community than Kewk)

They randomly ban accounts that have a certain amount of time spent playing in-game, knowing they are hooked on the game so they re-buy the game.
Their anti-hack is actually functional but here’s the kicker..wanna know WHY their bans are TEMPORARY the first time around? 0.8% hacking? Try an EXTREMELY LARGE PORTION of the player base is hacking. If they banned everyone they’d have a mass refund issue on their hands, and no one to play their piss poor of an excuse game.

they plan to HALT DEVELOPMENT AND ABANDON THE GAME in SIX months if revenue is not enough for them (I.E. People are not buying GC and spending the fuck out of it) — take note, if they do not get ENOUGH revenue. They will have enough revenue to pay for the game development for over a year at this point in time already, but if they don’t get enough to give themselves regular raises they will stop making the game and shut down the servers and website.

Here is a “Proof of ban” picture & a proof of me NOT requesting a refund.

Proof of ban

Proof of payment

Well then. That’s pretty strong. Still, if there’s any proof at all within that statement it’s how Hammerpoint is treating refunds with an iron fist of stupidity. There are very solid business practices that teach you to try and make sure a “quitting” customer can at one point become a “returning” customer. The follow image is one that just surfaced today and is a straight representation of how Hammerpoint is treating its customers. Never mind the possibility that they could really abandon the game in 6 months time. Check this response to a request for refund from a paid customer:

Well then. That’s even stronger. This is coming straight from a company representative, not an ex-Mod. So apparently if you feel like the game is unplayable and since the game is still officially unreleased that you should get a refund, you’re blacklisted. What about if you need a refund because you feel like you shouldn’t play the game until the bugs and hacks are gone but you like it? Blacklisted.

Basically, if you try and take money away from this company you’re blacklisted. At least, that’s what the common customer reading all of this can deduce. Hammerpoint has a lot of work ahead of them and I’m not talking about game development.

Either way, you need to be careful if you’re dealing with Hammerpoint and The WarZ right now. Until an official response comes out about these two reports the only sensible thing to do is to keep your money away from them. Let’s hope they can fix this situation and come out on top as you never want to see a company go down this kind of path.

As you may have heard, the mod in question above has rescinded his comments and made a video confessing the truth. Here is the link for the video: http://youtu.be/Svd-p3-CURk

The email response doesn’t really seem “too” threatening to be honest. Not really sure how I feel about it. I’m sure they are getting a lot of requests right now, but in fairness how often would you let a customer buy into a digital product and then ask for a refund? Its almost like freely renting a game. The fact they even allow refunds at all surprises me.

An update to this story so people are properly informed .Devin the ex mod put a video on YouTube confirming he was lying about everything he said. He mentions that everything said was an attempt to hurt the company financially. Apparently Sergey, the previously mentioned  executive producer for the game did not go after him with a lawyer. He instead reached out to him to talk about it and ended up asking Devin about his thoughts on improving The War Z community. You can find the video yourself just search “Ex-Forum DevinH – WarZ the REAL Truth”, his youtube channel name is DevinRaR.
