Developer Shows First Dragon Age 3 Screenshot

At the Bradford Animation Festival, the first official screenshot for the upcoming Dragon Age 3 was finally unveiled as BioWare Art and Animation director Neil Thompson talked about the evolution of video game art design.

It’s not a high-resolution shot released to fans over the internet, but it is a picture taken by one of the people in attendance while the picture was being shown.

Dragon Age 3 is being built on the Frostbite 2 engine, the same engine used to create Battlefield 3 and the eventual Mass Effect sequel BioWare is also working on. He commented that Frostbite 2 is a “beautiful, beautiful engine,” also adding that it helps him build on the game’s overall aesthetic rather than worrying about the technical end of things as much as he has when using different engines in the past.

We don’t know much more about Dragon Age 3 at this point in time, and the screen was only shown for a brief time to those in attendance at the Animation Festival. It’s likely, however, that we’ll see this screen in a higher quality format soon.

Keep it locked here for more information about BioWare and Dragon Age 3.
