PlayStation Vita Update 2.00 Is Coming Next Week, Brings PS+ And Email

On November 19th Vita owners will be able to download the new 2.00 software update that brings a lot to the table.

On the forefront? PlatStation Plus for Vita. PS+ is looking amazing for the Vita as the Instant Game Library feature will also be on the handheld. First up? Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Chronovault, and Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack with four new games coming every month for free.

Also, if you sign up for the Vita’s PS+ (free for those who own PS+ for PS3 already) you’ll get 2gbs of cloud storage for game saves, and automatically trophy sync.

One of my most wanted features on the PS Vita is finally coming with update 2.00: e-mail. I get nearly 100 e-mails a day and that means I’m on my phone almost every 5-10 minutes checking, deleting, forwarding, and replying. The e-mail app will support G-Mail, Yahoo!, IMAP, and that’s all we know for right now. The video preview for the update did not venture any further into protocol options. However, we do know that you can have up to 5 e-mail accounts and 5,000 contacts on the Vita’s e-mail app. E-mail notifications will be found in the Notification window.

The Content Manager has seen a big upgrade. You can now easily connect to a PC, PS3, or PSN online storage. Wireless connection to PC’s is now in, as well.

The Video app is updated big time. 1080p playback is now possible, closed captioning is available, and folders are in.

The Browser app has been upgraded with a new rendering engine, content display is better, GPU performance is better, javascript and html5 will act faster and better, and you can tweet your favorite websites straight from the Browser.
