Obsidian Beats Kickstarter Record With Project Eternity
Developer Obsidian joined the ranks of Kickstarter glory today when their project, Project Eternity, beat all previous records to become the highest-funded game on the crowd funding website. The game sits at $3,708,983 with four hours to go at the time of this report, beating the $3,336,371 that Double Fine Adventure amassed to claim top honors in Kickstarter history.
Project Eternity is said to be an “isometric, party-based computer RPG set in a new fantasy world”. It’s being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the minds behind such great RPGs as Fallout: New Vegas and KOTOR II. Executive Producer Adam Brennecke today cited his gratitude for the success on Kickstarter, mentioning that developers were surprised at the amount of traction the game has gained, and even thanking Double Fine for being pioneers of the Kickstarter phenomenon.
