Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Shown…As Well As A Metal Gear Movie?

To celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary, Kojima and company announced and showed off a litany of Metal Gear Solid news. Here’s a rundown of the headlines:

Fox Engine Demo:

They first debuted the new Fox engine with an open-world demo featuring Snake as he went around, doing what he does best; beating up guards and sneaking past cameras. Titled Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros, we’re still not sure if this game is anything more than a tech demo, or if it hints at the rumored Metal Gear Solid 5. It was running on one of those darn PCs, and footage was not allowed to be recorded at the event. Look for videos and stills soon.

Metal Gear Solid: The Movie:

Looking to win an award for Most Complicated Movie Plot of All Time, it was also announced today that Columbia Pictures and Avi Arad of X-Men and Spider-Man fame is producing the official film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid. He cites his excitement to bring the franchise to the big screen and promises that it’ll be carefully handled to ensure everything important and dear to the hearts of MGS fans will remain intact. No further info is available on this, but keep it locked here as more developments build.

Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops Announced:

A social network exclusive for the Japanese website GREE was announced today as well. Not much is known about it at this time, other than it will debut on Smart Phones, will be made with the Unity Engine, is called Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops, and it’ll more than likely be Game of the Year. It’s possible this will be released internationally later this year.
