Microsoft GM Indirectly Confirms Next Xbox

In an interview with The Verge, a high-ranking member of Microsoft indirectly confirmed what we all already knew: the next Xbox is coming.

Brian Hall, General Manager of Windows Live, said that the next Xbox, more than likely called “Xbox 720,” will see release in line with other Windows 8-enabled Microsoft products. From the interview:

“We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about sixteen years, we obviously have Exchange, and Outlook, that people use at work. We just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8 with the new version of Office with the New Windows phone and the new Xbox.”

It’s about damn time someone from Microsoft acknowledged what everyone in the industry already knew, but even then he gave us zero information about what the next Xbox holds. Personally, I hope that Windows 8 timeline stretches into late 2014 or early 2015 for the new Xbox. Is a new console really needed at this point? We’ll see when the next Xbox is finally detailed…whenever THAT is.
