Crytek Says They’re “Working With Nintendo,” Crysis 3 Wii U “A Possibility”
In an interview with CVG, Crytek producer Mike Read hinted that the studio’s next big shooter title, Crysis 3, may find its way onto Nintendo’s next console:
“I wouldn’t say no chance. I mean the Wii U still doesn’t have any kind of release [date] attached to it at this point. Who knows what the future will bring with it. I can definitely say that we are working with Nintendo, and that’s about all I can say on that front. I wouldn’t rule it out, but there has really been no official releases associated with the Wii U yet, and given that we’re releasing Crysis in an eight month time period in February of 2013, we can’t play off of what their schedules are. I wouldn’t rule it out, but you know, it is a possibility.”
This is a far different position than the one Crytek Director of Creative Development Rasmus Hoejengaard took with Destructoid when he said there was “not a fat chance” of Crysis 3 on Wii U.
This is certainly a great sign for Nintendo. If Crytek is open to the idea of publishing for Wii U, perhaps this could signal a more universal acceptance of the Wii U and its capabilities. Of course, the E3 announcement of the more familiar Wii U Pro Controller might have had something to do with it, but who knows for sure?
If this comes to light and Crysis 3 does see release on Wii U, I’m immediately adding Prophet to all of my “Who I Want For Smash Bros Wii U” lists. Am I wrong here?!
